Nearly 10 years ago, Cowboy Rick Hamby, and wife Bev purchased the Old Butterfield Stage Coach from Silver Dollar City & the Herschend family. From then on, Hamby has driven the stage coach on a number of journeys, following the original routes of the Wild West, including destinations such as Tombstone, Arizona and most recently Matador, Texas.

Hamby created a radio program call the Just For Kids Radio Round-Up!, and he eventually teamed up with a number of school districts and allowed the students to write letters to pin-pals on the other side of the U.S. Hamby would then deliver these letters carried by stage coach to their recipients and turn around and do it all over again.

Over time, Silver Dollar City eventually teamed up with Hamby and his wife, Bev and leased the stage coach back to the park where they would display the stage coach and tell harrowing tales of their journeys.

On their latest trip to Matador, Texas, Hamby and crew were accompanied by a notable photographer and together they created a beautiful and informative coffee table book, documenting the journey of the stage coach, titled "The Last Stage to Matador", which is on sale now.

Join Arvest Bank at our branch located at 1311 Porter Wagoner Blvd., West Plains, MO, on Friday, Dec. 7th from 2-4 p.m. for a book signing by Rick Hamby for his book "The Last Stage to Matador".
